Baltimore Beginnings
This quilt was the first "needle turned" applique quilt I ever made. It measures 18 1/4 x 22 1/2 inches. The body of the quilt is machine pieced and hand quilted. Motifs are Batik fabric on Elly Sienkiewicz Baltimore fabric.
This project was my test to see if I enjoyed the needle turn applique technique. I found out very fast that I loved it. I soon signed up for a class on this technique at a local quilt shop. As time went on I found this would be my favorite type of quilting technique. In quilting -hand applique is something you either love or hate. Those who love it seem to be in the minority.
In the quilts that will follow later in this blog you will see several large needle turned pieces.
